Situated in Spokane, Washington, the Northern Quest Casino Resort delivers a luxury 4 star experience. The Kalispel Indian Tribe has done a wonderful job combining the traditional heritage with modern luxury and convenience. We have been fortunate enough to visit many Washington State Indian Casinos and Northern Quest is quite different. The native influence is subtle and represented in a discreet and modern way. The atmosphere appeals to natives and non-natives alike, men, women, young and old. There literally is something for everybody.
We stayed the night in a classic double queen room and it was beautiful. Large open windows and squishy soft beds. It has a modern feel consistent with the rest of the hotel. One thing you may notice as you walk through the hotel and casino is the recurring circle theme. This is a modern touch but also carries significance and was a design specifically chosen to represent the circular earrings the Kalispel Tribe is known to wear.
After settling into our room, myself and my girls went for a walk to explore what else the resort has to offer. On a Saturday night, the place was full of activity as we made our way. The hotel is set up to be somewhat separated from the casino which is great with the kids in tow. The hotel side consists of ballrooms available for events, a beautiful staffed pool and hot tub, and the La Rive Spa which even has a full salon so you can have perfect hair and nails too!
Off the lobby you will find the fireside lounge which is known for using the freshest juices for it’s drinks and Masselow’s Restaurant, Spokane’s ONLY 4-Star restaurant.
Continuing down the corridor (Heritage Hall) you will find the expected native artifacts and scrolling video. It is very tastefully done with a gallery feel. Tucked away along this walk is the marketplace where you can find snacks, gifts, coffee and wine. At the end, you will find Legend’s of Fire. Again, Northern Quest is the ONLY place in the region that has a premium cigar lounge.
As you descend into the casino area, you are again greeted with traditional native influences with a modern flare. Water is significant for the Kalispel Indians and you find that represented with large scale fountains enhanced by LED lights with large columns which represent the reeds found here.
Down in the casino area, there are plenty more options for food and drink. The EPIC sports bar is THE place to be to watch the game on the enormous 30 foot by 10 foot screen! If sports aren’t your thing, you can visit Studio E inside of EPIC or Impulse Nightclub for a bit of dancing.
The casino floor offers even more choices in convenience dining and the Rivers Edge Buffet. The casino floor itself is HUGE and lots of games for all. If you choose, you can even spend a few dollars in the non-smoking gaming section.
I haven’t even gotten to entertainment yet. The Northern Quest hosts many events throughout the year including many big name celebrities. They have both indoor and outdoor facilities so there is always something going on.
The only thing missing is somewhere to drop of the kiddos if they happen to be with you so you can spend more time at the spa and casino! My daughter kindly suggested to the supervisor that they add on a kids arcade including lazer tag! It is actually something they have been considering and as they expand, you just might see more activities for the whole family.
If you happen to be visiting the area, I would highly recommend stopping in for the night. Visit the Northern Quest Website for all the details on rooms, dining, nightlife and entertainment.
Be sure to keep your eyes back here too for my experiences at Masselow’s and Rivers Edge Buffet too!
